New Day Start 68

It is now 0321 and I have taken my medications. Caleb woke me up. I was not ready to get up at all. Yesterday I worked on my paper for most of the day. I also decided it was time for a planned "eat what I want" day. We went to Food Lion and bought some foods I'm not normally allowed to eat: Texas Toast, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, and sushi! I enjoyed it all without guilt.

I spent hours talking to my dad about Korea. We were sharing our stories.

It is now 0818. I went back to sleep, and just got up. My glucose is back down to 120 and I ate 3 hard boiled eggs for breakfast. I'm back on track.

I told my dad about 1SGT Randolph's behavior during a weekly meeting with the CO. He was out of line in front of everybody. I'm surprised he did not lose his job and rank.

I told him about the joke from Christinia when we were working in Yongsan, "How ordering toilet paper?" What she didn't realize was that many clinics were finding alternative ways to provide toilet paper, or the soldier had to carry their toilet paper to work if they wanted to "utilize the latrine." It might have been funny to her, but she didn't know the seriousness of the situation. My NCOIC did order supplies for the unit. SSG Carr believed that having an empty supply room was the way have things. What he didn't obviously did not understand was, we should always have supplies on hand to issue to the rest of the unit. That was our main function as 92Y, Unit Supply Specialists.

I told my dad how we would drive to Osan Air Field to buy supplies from their supply point to supply headquarters in Yongsan, using the government credit card. That was not right. That was not appropriate for everyday supply ordering.

I told my dad how I had timed exams to disassemble and assemble all Army weapons that are stored in Army Rooms. I had one of each to disassemble and assemble, one at a time, within a time limit. I told him how heavy a SAW was to carry, and I didn't have to carry it very far. I just carried it from the classroom to the arms room down the hall. It was either a SAW or M249. I forget which one I was carrying. I was only 145 lbs at that time. I felt like my arms would break waiting in line to turn in weapons at the end of the day.

We talked about the KATUSAs. I told him about SGT Lee who hated Americans. He was a KATUSA I had to work with.

I told him about SGT Choi and how we out to lunch at an all you eat Sushi bar. It had a conveyor belt of plates with one piece of sushi each. It was awesome.

I told him about SGT Hyu from CBRNE across the hallway. I learned the Korean word for cat one day and confused the shit out of Hyu. I laughed so hard!

A friend of mine on Facebook posts photos of Korea. One photo I recognized as being taken from Seoul Tower because I was there once.

My dad worked at Camp Kyle not far from CRC. He told me his stories.

We talked about the ROK Army and how the soldiers were treated and the standards they had to maintain equipment.

It was an interesting and memory-filled conversation!

I told him that a memory came up on Facebook from O-Day in Yongsan. O-Day is Organizational day where my unit would host an event for the entire unit. 618th Dental Co had a BBQ event when Caleb just just a toddler. I remember being given 3 or 4 racks of ribs to season. I put them in a marinade overnight, and everybody loved them! A photo came up in my newsfeed on Facebook of Caleb from that O-Day. He was such a cute little boy! I just want to reach back into that photo and pick him up and hug and love on him! I miss my baby Caleb. I worked so hard that I missed a lot of time with him when he was younger. I had to work, so he had to be in daycare.

I told my dad how the Army is getting upgrades to their common-soldier weapons or Squad weapons. I saw it on Instagram! I don't know why but I am so excited for the Army to get new weapons! I expressed my excitement to my dad.

I saw Drill Sergeant Davis online through Facebook messenger the other day and it made me smile.

I still keep in contact with Dreisow and Christinia from the motor pool, and Leila from the dental clinic, and my first 1SGT, 1SGT Dubard on facebook.

Today appears to be gloomy. I need to get my first draft completed because I know I will have to edit it several times before it's ready for review. I need Caleb to work today.

This is my final week of this class. I want to finish with an A. I have the last Unleash Your Life zoom meeting today. I don't know if I will make it. I take the dogs to have their nails trimmed tomorrow. That's all the appointments for this week.

Have a blessed day and thank you for reading my blog!
