5 Year Journal Day 233

Today's prompt is "Whose team are you on?" I am on my own team.

It is now 4:39 a.m. and I have been struggling to fall back asleep. Yesterday did not go as planned. I woke up at a decent time, thanks to Caleb. It was about 8:30 a.m. when he woke me up. I checked my blood sugar right away, and it was 440! I panicked and reached out to Aunt Lisa immediately. I tried to call my PCP, but there was no answer. I messaged Stella, since she also has diabetes. I finally thought to call the Dr. Karels, the VA pharmacist who is working with me on my diabetes. I had to leave a voice mail. Aunt Lisa reached me first. I was looking up whether or not it warranted going to the ER because my sugar was so high. She contacted her cousin who works in family medicine and got back to me with some information. I was grateful. Dr. Karels got back to me too. She said as long as I was not feeling weird, I did not need to go to the ER. She told me to take a different dose of my diabetes medication. I told her I would try to walk and see if that would bring my blood sugar down. I walked for 15 minutes. There was not a sharp decline in glucose. Dr. Karels told me I could call her anytime, if I have any questions or concerns. That put my fears to rest. I can never reach my PCP on the same day as the problem I am having.

This whole scenario took all morning. I just summed it up.

It was noon when I finally took a shower and got dressed. I decided I wanted to take some of my soup to Alisa for her to try. She recently had an infected tooth removed, and I'm sure it was hard for her to eat anything that required chewing. So we brought over some soup, and they gave Caleb the birthday present they meant to give him. Caleb and I did not stay as it was a school day for the Leeanna, and she was studying online. We went and put gas in the Mazda, and went to Wade's Jeweler's in Southport to pick up my ring. It had to be fixed so the Jack Storms' glasswork would not fall out of the prongs. It turned out beautifully. The glass had been cleaned and sparkled like the day I got it.

We came back home after that. I was too tired to do anything else. Normally on days I take showers, I am not good for much else. It takes alot out of me for some reason, even when the water is not too hot. So, I went to take a nap. When Caleb woke me up from my nap, it was dark outside. It was after 5:00 p.m. I had leftover soup for dinner, and Caleb made himself some hot dogs to eat. The Wifi went out all of a sudden and we couldn't figure out why. Nothing had changed from inside the house. Then when I tried to use the AT&T app, I couldn't because the T-Mobile signal was unstable. I was concerned. I could not even make a phone call.

We went to McDonald's to use the free WiFi from the parking lot. I tried to fix the Wifi at home using the AT&T app, but it did not work. I had to schedule a technician to come to the house. I thought I was scheduling for this coming up Tuesday, but it's not. It' s the Tuesday after next! What?! I can't wait that long to get my Wifi back up! Meanwhile, my phone doesn't work at all at home.

I decided to got to the local Verizon store, which was right around the corner from the McDonald's and switch my service over to Verizon. I did not want to have to pay more for the same service, but from my perspective, it wasn't the same service. Caleb's phone had a signal in the house, and his phone is a Verizon phone. I needed to be able to make calls, especially in case of emergencies.

Upon talking to the sales rep at Verizon and trying to determine which plan I should get, I had to think. I have to pay my bills on Tuesday. How am I going to manage that without Wifi? I have to be able to communicate with people all throughout the day, and be available for phone calls. I knew I had to keep my same phone number, just because there are so many doctors involved who need to be able to reach me. Not to mention that I am in the middle of an investigation, and need to be reachable.

I ended up getting the unlimited plan, which is what I had with T-Mobile. I had to plan to be without Wifi until January 26th. Fuck!

So we finish up at the Verizon store at closing time, 9:00 p.m., and go back home, and guess what? The damned Wifi gateway is back on solid green, when it was on solid red! Hey. I'm not going to complain that it is back on green. What the Hell made it go to red in the first place? So, I went and did all that work , for nothing. Damn. I will be ready next time though. I will have phone service , even without Wifi.

That took the life out of me, and I went to bed.

I wanted to spend some time cleaning up yesterday, but that never happened. I was too consumed by other things going on. Today, I am supposed to go to Wilmington to help Billy Gore. I don't know how I will feel later this morning.

The sales rep at the Verizon store was really nice and accommodating. He was also a veteran. he was in the Navy as an air traffic controller, which I thought was cool.

The guy who fixed my ring was pleasant too. I could not believe he remembered my ring. He came out to tell me the details of what to watch out for, and when I should bring it back. I like him alot. He knew how much it meant to me to have my ring fixed, and he did a spectacular job.

I went to show Linda at Renee's Jeweler's the results of the ring per her request from when I was there the last time. She seemed very interested and in awe of the sparkle.

I wanted to cook something for dinner but did not have the energy to do it. I wanted to wash dishes too. I wanted to pick trash up off the floor. None of it happened. I just don't have enough energy to keep up with all the things I am tasked with.

I already took my iron pill earlier this morning when I got up for the umpteenth time.

I am tired and oh so thirsty. I have to go get some water filtered and fill my jug up. I was too tired to do it last night, and I am paying for it now.

It is now 5:25 a.m. here. Caleb is asleep in the living room, like usual. Bella is laying down in my bed, probably waiting for me to come back.

Caleb proudly made me some hotdogs on the stove yesterday. I like to eat them with yellow mustard, horseradish, and sweet relish. He thinks that is gross! LOL

Caleb just woke up for a drink. I need to go get my jug filled up.
