Today's prompt is "What is your favorite thing to do on a Friday night?" Sleep!
It is now 2:34 a.m. here, and I woke up with yuck mouth so I needed to get up and get a soda. Yesterday was Halloween. Caleb and I went for a walk before noon to the Veterans' Park. Caleb had been dressed in my ACU's since Friday night. When we got there, Caleb walked onto the dock and immediately an old fat man who was fishing bullied Caleb or wearing the ACU's. He told Caleb that he was offended by him wearing the ACU's, that he was shot multiple times... that he was a Sergeant Major... that it was illegal to wear the uniform. Caleb came back to me obviously upset. I had not been able to hear what was said, but I could see the look on his face was upset. The man had no balls to talk me. He never left the dock. Caleb is an 11 year old boy wanting to be a soldier on Halloween. He is the son of a veteran who cannot afford a proper Halloween costume. No matter how this old asshole felt, he should have brought it up to me, not to my 11 year old son trying to have a good candy seeking day.
Caleb and I sat on the swinging chair, with Bella at our side for a little while, and talked about what happened. I told him that he should not wear my uniform before. This was not new. At the same time, the ACU's are no longer being worn in the Army as far as I know, and my ACU's have long been out of service. They have no use but to remind me of my time in them.
Later on in the afternoon Caleb went with his friend Lonnie Jr., and his parents to go trick-or-treating. Caleb's feet hurt from wearing my old boots which were probably too small for his man-sized feet, so they stopped once their bags were full of candy, and came home.
The neighbor across the street was having a bonfire, and invited us to go. I was tired and not wanting to be around people, but Caleb wanted to go, so he went.
I stayed at home and caught up on some videos I was supposed to have watched throughout the month, but never did watch.
I really did not do much. Taking Bella and Caleb for a walk took more energy out of me than expected. I did want to get some cleaning done, but got nothing done at all. I was just so tired. I wanted to rest and be peaceful, so I did.
I am monitoring my blood pressure throughout the day, and logging it on a chart I created in Excel and printed out. I did much better yesterday about checking it than I did the day before.
Lonnie Jr.'s mom, Shannon, took some photos!
